Baseball: Does Salary Have an Impact on Performance?

Ben Fry, PhD., has updated his “Salary vs. Performance” visualization for the 2007 season. The visualization compares how much money each team spends on their roster (i.e. total of all salaries for every player on their team) with their performance to date. Teams in blue are getting their money’s worth, whereas teams in the red are performing poorly with the money they have spent.

The visualization is an applet, so be patient while it loads.

Andrew — have you read the book Moneyball by Michael Lewis? It’s a great read for those who enjoy statistics, baseball, or both :)
