Google Adds MyMaps

Google MyMapsYesterday, Google added a feature called MyMaps to Google Maps, which lets you create your own markers and share your map with anyone. I created one with all of the locations of the Cape Cod Baseball League (just like the field locator on CodBall). The guys over at Techlife found one made by “B. MacMillan” with all of the professional ballparks.

The one thing that I would like to do with the map is embed it on an external web page. Unfortunately, Google does not let you do this, and probably will not since it would destroy any potential business plan they have with the new product. Oh well.

Hi Andrew – Thanks for noticing. My guess is you watch Geekbrief. Cali had it 1/2 right. But I like to give credit where it is due.

The Baseball Map you linked to was created by “B MacMillan” and I just found it. I did zoom into the Northeast and frame it for my article’s purposes of hitting those ballparks.

Thanks for reading, writing and linking. Your blog looks pretty interesting.

Hi Dave, thanks for the info. I’ll update my post. And, yep, I watch Geekbrief nearly every day. Great work on the Techlife blog.
