Amazon.com “Sign In” is Confusing

Amazon

Signing in to every site on the Internet is easy. Even MySpace.com, arguably the worst site on the Internet, is easy to sign in to. Why, oh why then do I struggle every time signing in to Amazon.com? Where am I supposed to click?

In fact, the only place one can click to be taken directly to the “Sign In” form is on “Personalized Recommendations.” Does that make any sense? Why isn’t “Sign In” a link? And why isn’t it in the top-right of the page, which isn’t being used for anything.

I love Amazon.com. It’s easy to find anything I need and it usually has the best prices on the Internet for a lot of categories of items. But, boy is it hard to sign in.

Recommendation: Make “Sign In” a link instead of “Personalized Recommendations.” Create a “Sign In” link in the top-right, which on click brings up the e-mail address and password fields without reloading the page (like Digg.com and other sites do).
