CHI 2007: I’m a Student Volunteer

Once again, I will be headed to the largest academic conference in human-computer interaction. My friend Brian Ashbaugh and I were both selected to be student volunteers at CHI 2007: Reach Beyond in San Jose, California. So, I will once again be packing my bags for the Bay Area for a week or so in late April/early May.

120 student volunteers were selected semi-randomly from a pool of more than 500 students studying HCI or a related field. Somehow, Brian was selected #1 in the process, and I was selected as #17.

Hey, do you know about the HCI Intl. conference next summer in Beijing, China?

I’ve applied already as a student volunteer… plus, It’d be brilliant to go to China!

The deadline is the 31st of Dec. The conference is in the summer…

Hey Diego, thanks for the info–I have seen brochures about that conference. However, I don’t think I am going to apply to be a volunteer because I will have class during the summer, and the flight to China will take about a day (each way) from Boston. I know you are probably used to the travel times though :)

I am not ruling the conference out though, because I am looking for network opportunities in 2007, especially toward the end of 2007 when I finish my program at Bentley.
