Google Analytics

Google AnalyticsGoogle already knows a lot about me. They have most of my e-mail, my social security number (Google Adsense), my mailing address, my interests (Google News and IG), and now they have my website statistics. I trust Google, and I love their services. They’re pushing the envelope and forcing other companies (like Yahoo! and even Microsoft) to try to keep up.

Google Analytics is very cool, and I encourage all of the webmasters out there to sign up. However, Google has temporarily suspended new sign ups at 237,524 accounts, so you will have to wait. One of the coolest features is a Geolocation Map, where markers are placed in the approximate location that people are viewing your site from. Another great feature is the ability to share your stats with another account. This ability has also been temporarily suspended, but I think it will be great for websites with more than one webmaster.

How does Google get your stats? Well, all you have to do is insert six supplied lines of JavaScript/HTML and your visitor information will be sent to Google’s servers. Very easy and very useful.

EDIT (Nov. 28th): According to Garett Rogers, Google is slowly adding accounts for people who put themselves on the Google Analytics waiting list.
