Google Blog Search

Google Blog SearchToday the beta of Google Blog Search was made public by the fine folks over at Google. It works pretty well, but as a LiveJournal user, I have a major complaint. In LiveJournal, there’s an option called “Block Robots/Spiders from indexing your journal” that one can toggle. When activated, it told most search engine spiders (such as Google’s ordinary search spiders) not to index journal entries. Of course, search engines can ignore the request, but as a courtesy, most don’t. The problem is that Google Blog Search ignores the request. Therefore, all public LiveJournal entries are now searchable and this may cause a storm if people using the free journal service find out!
