New Apple Products

Mighty MouseWithin the last month, Apple Computer has updated and added several new products to their line. It started out with new iBook and Mac Mini lines. I was not pleased with the updates to the Mac Mini, because Apple did not upgrade the video card. Therefore, the Mac Mini still does not support Mac OS X’s Core Image for hardware accelerated image and video processing. The iBook, however, does support Core Image. Therefore, I am proud to announce that I have sold my Dell Laptop and I purchased a 12″ iBook (1gb RAM, 80gb HD) on tax-free weekend (August 13th and 14th in Massachusetts). It will ship out from Apple next Monday. The new iBook and Mac Mini lines also both include integrated Bluetooth and AirPort Extreme. The only thing else I could ask for in the iBook is DVI-out!

The other major release by Apple was of course, the Mighty Mouse. The Mighty Mouse allows for two-button functionality via touch sensors. Apple Stores are selling these things left and right. Because I like new gadgets, I almost considered buying one. But, I am going to wait for a Bluetooth version. $49 is a little too much for me to spend on a wired mouse–especially one that has received mixed reviews.

Looking to buy a portable Mac? Join me and buy an iBook… or wait a month or two for the next update to the line of Powerbooks!
